This isn’t really a long theory post, but just something that I wanted to point out. As people like @mari-m-rose​ pointed out, Ja’far is shown to become a monster fully for a few seconds before reverting back to human form in Snb 170.

I want to point out the shape of his “assimilated” form. Unlike Drakon’s, it doesn’t really look like a lizard of any sort. Especially from the perspective, we can tell its a HUGE monster form. He towers over Shaka and almost reaches the ceiling. 

Also note the weird “hood” shape of his form. What sort of animal could this be?

Why, what else than the very thing Ja’far is based off of? :3c

Our baby’s monster form is not only based off of a snake, but rather a king cobra or any other hooded snake. What a strong boy, I’m so proud of him <3 You can also see in the panel below the shadow looks like a long figure that seems to be curling/twisting around to look at Shaka:

Also the screentones and effects when Ja’far attacks Shaka looks like the way snakes attack– in one quick, deft and powerful strike.

Aaaaah I absolutely love that Ja’far’s assimilated form is a hooded snake though, that narrows him down to types of snakes like the king cobra or the black mamba– both of whom are venomous snakes (and two of the deadliest snakes on the planet). I wonder if this means that Ja’far has some sort of feature relating to poison too? 

In the end, it’s only fitting for the High King of the Seven Seas to have the King of Snakes guarding him from danger~

Okay. So if you’ve seen the most recent pieces of art that I’ve submitted onto my blog, you’ll know that I did not take Sinbad’s death well haha. It’s hard to describe what I feel right now– if I had to summarize, I think it would just be…. overwhelming disappointment.

Don’t get me wrong, I am very sad and depressed that Sinbad is dead. He was one of my favorite characters and of course one half of my first OTP/ship that I felt so strongly about. I am anxious to see what the 8 Generals and Ja’far’s reaction to his death will be, and I know if we ever get that chapter, I’ll cry along with the rest of the characters who mourn Sinbad. What I mean by disappointment is how disappointed I was in the way he died and how he let himself die just like that.

Compared to his life, his death was pathetic. It was sad, his monologue out of character and of course, very gory. I think that this could be credited to David influencing Sinbad in his mind and telling him that there is a new adventure waiting for him over at the Sacred Palace. Up until now we’ve never seen Sinbad express any sort of opinion on the life he left behind in Sindria, he’s only ever talking about the future and what it holds for him.

For me, the last monologue Sinbad had sounds like in the end, he was the one who missed Sindria more than anyone. If you think about it, it makes sense. Ja’far may have loved Sindria with all of his heart, but Sinbad was the one who built it. Sindria is basically his child, and he was so happy and content there with his friends/family. The only reason why he had to leave Sindria behind was because he was convinced that he needed to change the world for the better/change it even more than he already did, and I feel like the move from Sindria to Parthevia took a gigantic toll on him.

ANYWAYS.

Now that Magi is over, the most important question everyone is asking is will Ja’far ever be happy Will Sinbad come back? 

My speculation is that he will– or rather, that he has already returned. This might sound a little weird, right? After all it’s based on nothing but speculation. There’s no real concrete evidence that Sinbad will return in the last few chapters of the manga (that being said, @nawcutebubu posted a very well thought-out post about his return too, please check it out! :3).

There isn’t any concrete evidence about Sinbad’s return in the manga, no. But Ohtaka-sensei did leave us a very important clue– the Magi Volume 37 covers.

Okay now that some time has passed since spoilers i went back to find this panel

This image was Alibaba’s depiction of the future which we do not see in the final chapter but we can expect this is what will happen in the next few years if the story was to continue. However whats odd is that even though it was mentioned he died Sinbad is clearly visible in the back in his sindrian outfit.

Topped with the above image from magi 368 it asks the question did Ohtaka initially plan for Sinbad to come back? Did plans change at the very end? or was this intentionally done to create an open ending for the reader to interpret? Was sinbad’s fate intentionally left unanswered because it could be addressed through a long timeskip in the adventures of sinbad?

WIth both Alibaba and Jafar certain Sinbad would return and knowing that Jafar has returned to Sindria and Sinbad is dressed in his Sindrian robes in a future image which could be around 6-7 years after the final based on the next gen kids height could the readers really assume that Sinbad does return after several years and that when he does he will return to sindria? Or once again is all this a sign that someone behind the scenes of the story interfered with perhaps what were initial plans? Or was this set up for the adventures of sinbad?. The fact we still got snb creates that little ray of hope that we will find a resolution or get some answers as to what happened

It’s obvious that Sinbad, the character from the manga Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic is based on his namesake from the popular collection of tales and stories ‘Arabian Nights’, and that gives to some parallelisms between them.

However, during my long research, I realized something: from Sinbad no Bouken till Magi, Sinbad has made a journey quite similar to his seagoing buddy. Too similar, in fact.

We know that Sinbad The Sailor made a total of seven voyages, going through several adventures. These are the similarities I found rather fitting in our Sin’s story… Let’s take a look, shall we?

I have not forsaken this fandom yet. To make up for my abrupt absence, where my University is 83% held accountable, I’m going to present a kickass theological interpretation of “rukh” in Magi. We’re aware of how much Magi borrows religion and mythology for its plot devices, and I feel like we’ve not quite grasped the depths of the symbolism in the concept of rukh.

If that doesn’t get the motor running in your nerd genitals, this is your cue to leave this post before I present my two primary interpretations of the concept and its implications and how it relates to the manga. I’ll make this as fast and painless as I can.
