I haven’t seen anyone talk about it, but in night 354, the rampaging unicorns were probably entirely wiped out from the southern seas. With this, Sindria lost one of its main attractions and trademark souvenirs, and the mahrajan will never be the same again:
Okay, I never noticed this until now, but everyone who was there at Sindria’s destruction is so sad in this part. I almost get the feeling that Sharrkan’s statement makes them think about what happened in Sindria 1.0 where they were all there and still couldn’t do anything about the destruction. It happened right in front of them and they couldn’t do anything. Sinbad just gives his normal smile, saying he’s fine, but the four generals show a different thing. They know Sinbad isn’t fine and that he never was fine.
mari i just caught up with magi after ditching it for months because i got angry and disappointed with how the story had gone. now i'm even more angry and disappointed. when sinbad said he viewed himself above his generals i :( and >:/
Hello anon! Well, can’t blame you ofc, this arc is really difficult for us Sinbad/Sindria fans.
Tbh I already knew he viewed himself above his family. I have no objections about it because it was implied even way before last arc. The generals also already knew they were weak compared to Sin. Their only way to become stronger is through assimilation but doing it would burden him, therefore they never attempted to complete it. When Masrur talked about it I was sure the generals had some kind of sadness/regret about not being able to get stronger in order to protect/help Sin more. I think the fact Sinbad was so incredibly more powerful than them is what created that awkward distance (that shouldn’t exist) between them. Except maybe with Ja’far, whom he still talked to and involved in his dirty schemes, ….but hey I guess last arc ruined that one.
I actually love that Sin assumed the position of the head of the family in order to protect his beloved ones and his country. I think that’s how Sinbad started of course…..that’s why his wanting to make even his friends return to the rukh and his not caring about them plus calling the likes of Arba and David his comrades was beyond disgusting to me. Well, now he’s fighting David so I guess those were empty words/lies (maybe) in order to win an argument.
Anyway from all the horrible things Sinbad has said I don’t consider that one as actually bad. Cheer up anon! At least Sinbad said he believes in his friends! His not wanting to share power with anyone else comes from his sense of responsability, which was something he learnt from Ja’far. A nice lesson ofc, tho we didn’t thought the idea was gonna rott into what it is for Sinbad now: greed and paranoia/not being able to trust anyone but himself.
These last 3 weeks a lot of signs have been given about things improving soon, so let’s wait a little longer and hope for the best! Meanwhile try indulging yourself with old material about Sin and his friends, so that you remember their bond is real:
WHAT if this is Ja’far finding out Sin went to die to the sacred palace and came back as god? What if this is Ja’far being scared before Sin says he’s gonna rewrite everyone’s Rukh and does it in front of him?
Well it still looks like he’s spying on Sin and Arba tho, through an slightly open door,…. my poor son. Or maybe he’s spying Sin talking to David (aka. himself).
But he looks especially scared in this one, so I picture it’s a very important horrifying thing he finds out.
So Sinbad says this but… BITCH PLS who fainted when Kougyoku left the International Alliance?
This argument of: “growing attached to things you build” is the hugest bs Sinbad could have ever said. Who was so focused on protecting Sindria that almost used Kougyoku to kill her own brothers (or whatever he planed to do) before Yunan stopped him? Who said that didn’t mind to dirty his hands if it meant protecting his country?
This makes very clear god Sinbad is hardly Sinbad, there’s something of our Sinbad still there and maybe they can save him, but he’s mostly just being….a god.
Hi, Mari! Thanks for always posting good info about Magi! I recently read your post about japanese fans and I'm still curious about specific opinions they might have, if that's ok with you. It's not always we have such international disasters in fandom, so I wanted to know they words and obviously your opnions on the final arc as well. Do you think Magi can recover from it?
Hi ♥, I’m happy you enjoy what I share ♥♥♥♥ Haha you should have seen them when Sin died, I guess they freaked out a lot more when that happened, ofc they were sadder than this time.
The amount of salt is too big this time and I’ve never seen people wanting to mute words on twitter for their own safety.
First of all I’m not a fan of this chapter either so aside ele’s summary (I read it because she assured me that it was not gonna upset me) I don’t know anything about this chapter. People ponder a lot about if they got married or not. I’m not sure either and Idk if it’s confirmed, tbh I don’t wanna know either, at least not for now.
A lot of the tweets I read just went:
“poor Seren/Seren-chan doesn’t deserve this/I wanted Seren-chan to be happy”
People are mad because their relaitonship is portrayed like something sweet between them when it’s written like a curse for both characters. (I’ll elaborate more about this below)
“When love does not have sweet and gentle elements, it’s just dust …. I thought that the reason for Sin not getting married was Seren, but I did not think that it was such a heartless reason. It’s not cute at all,“I take responsibility that you took away your life” … It’s not marriage out of love, but atonement“ (all of them are google translate, beware of bad English)
“Although it’s too much
impact on the picture surface, so much content is not coming in, I wonder if
there is Seren black Rukh inside Sin now.”
I love these ones because this is exactly what bothers me too. The portrayal of their relationship in Magi, picture-wise, contradicts the true nature of it. So much Seren dearly in his memories, and now the hand-holding at Zepar (even tho this is Zepar doing it), all sweet and close and intimate, yet Seren left the company in this week’s chapter, they were never friends and didn’t even bond deeply, So instead of emphazising all the other relationships she’s created around Sin, Ohtaka suddenly decides to focus on this one and sugarcoat it when it’s one hell of a toxic relationship. Ofc we still dunno how it will end but at this point if it’s a “good” end, I won’t be able buy it anymore.
Then pretty much everything is people unable to empathize:
“If such sweet heroine would have been introduced a lot earlier, I’m sure I’d have fallen for her, but this is the last arc and this makes no sense and I already prefer other characters’ connections to Sin.”
“I always knew there was a dear person for Sin in the past and was prepared for it, …but not like this, I cannot accept this.” (These two tweets are written from memory tho, I lost them on my TL)
This is another weak point about Ohtaka’s writing. I think that talking about Sindria’s tragedy during first Sindria arc was cool but instead of slowly revealing info she just suddenly makes her picture appear with no explanations (Mystras’s and Ruru’s at least had more mentions). Yeah I know pretty much everyone reads SnB by now, but Magi is a different story and such an important character deserves a well-written introduction, not an assumption that everyone already knows her.
And well these were some of my fave tweets, I also faved a lot of salty tweets from angry people, I don’t think I should share cause it’s hate and a lot of swearing (one tweet just literally says: shit shit shit shit).
As for my opinion, I couldn’t agree more with the japanese fandom. (long rantish opinion incomming:)
“That was an answer Sinbad would never think off” The way he adressed himself….it really isn’t Sin….right?
Putting that aside, isn’t it sad Sin never knew of this concept? He always dealed with everything alone, he didn’t let anyone know, even tho Ja’far, Masrur and the others made efforts to help him always. He never really relied on them in an emotional level. He took the role of the king, the head of the family (like his dad), the savior, the one who protects and never let anyone share his burden. Even tho Ja’far made it clear to him that they were in that mess together, Sin never wanted to share his pain with him.
Which reminds me of Ja’far’s expression when Aladdin said this:
That’s probably something Ja’far has been telling Sin always, …but Sin could never do it. He never knew how to do it.
So, does this mean it’s comfirmed that Sin is not Sin anymore? Or is this just a description of his current condition as god? Because he definitely isn’t human anymore.
I do think that the moment he died Sin changed, like Arba said on previous chapters: he became a being that isn’t Sinbad. So maybe some of his main characteristics were lost, probably his emotions about his loved ones…or who knows, maybe he just stopped being sensitive on a human level. At he same time this trial is meant to reflect his convictions, which means he still has the same motives to act….
